It did not take long for Scott Giblin to find exactly what he wanted after the short drive up the Cabrini College driveway.

“I was looking for a small campus close to home where I could play tennis,” Giblin said.

What seemed to be such a simple request turned into a dominant career on the tennis court.

Giblin stepped onto the court to begin his career with few expectations. “I thought I would play No. 5 of 6.”

It did not take Head Coach Reggie Day to see Giblin’s talent and install him at the No. 1 singles and doubles flights, positions he would hold throughout his career.

Day’s faith in Giblin paid off with one of the most successful careers in Cabrini and Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) history.

During his four seasons, Giblin was named PAC Player of the Year three times and won a combined six conference championships.

He won four consecutive No. 1 singles crowns, culminating with a senior campaign during which he did not lose a set all season.

Giblin also collected the 2002 and 2003 PAC doubles titles after finishing second as a freshman and sophomore.

While Giblin’s on-court exploits will forever stand the test of time, he is just as proud of his involvement off the court. Giblin spent two years as a class senator in Cabrini’s Student Government Association and was involved in the roller hockey club.

Giblin continues to look back on his days as a student-athlete and reflects fondly on his ability to be involved in a variety of activities at Cabrini and the memories those activities created, both on and off the court.

“From being elected as a student senator as a freshman through our St. Francis House visit as a senior, Cabrini gave me a foundation to appreciate helping people.”
