RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini women's tennis team extended its win streak to six with a commanding 7-2 victory against Lebanon Valley College Tuesday at the Dixon Courts. The Cavaliers rallied from a 2-1 deficit after doubles play for the victory, winning four singles matches that reached a super tie-breaker.
Junior Nicole Pontious keyed the Cabrini singles effort, tallying a convincing 6-2, 6-3 win at the No. 3 position. Freshman Michelle Lettman improved to 10-0, winning in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 6 spot.
Seniors Dina DiTaranto and Christine Telling captured wins at the No. 1 and 2 postions, respectively. DiTaranto logged a 7-5, 2-6, 10-3 victory in the lead-off spot, while Telling earned a 4-6, 6-3, 10-7 decision in the second hole.
Sophomore Stephanie Tighe claimied a 7-5, 3-6, 10-8 triumph at No. 4. Rookie Alexis DiCamillo posted a 6-2, 4-6, 15-13 win at the No. 5 position.
The Dutchmen grabbed a 2-1 lead out of the gates, winning in doubles competition at the No. 2 and 3 positions. DiTaranto and Telling salvaged the only point for the Cavaliers, recording an 8-3 win at No. 1.
Cabrini (9-1, 4-0) resumes Colonial States Athletic Conference play Saturday, September 27, welcoming Philadelphia Biblical University at 1 p.m.
