Women's Tennis Handed 6-3 CSAC Loss Against Rosemont College

Sophomore Michelle Lettman and teammate Kourtney Spak tallied an 8-4 win in doubles play Saturday.

RADNOR, Pa. –
The Cabrini women's tennis team opened its 2009 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) season with a 6-3 loss against Rosemont College at the Dixon Courts Saturday. Freshman Gabriela Durand remains unbeaten in singles competition, winning her second match of the season.

Durand claimed the Cavaliers' only point in singles play,rallying for a 4-6, 6-0, 10-6 win against Rosemont's Karis Coad at the No. 3 position.

Cabrini held the upper-hand heading into singles action, winning two of the match's three doubles contests. Durand and sophomore Alexis DiCamillo captured their first win of the season at the No. 1 spot, downing Priyanka Reddy and Olesya Kuchma, 8-6.

Sophomores Michelle Lettman and Kourtney Spak are 1-0 in 2009 following an 8-4 victory at the No. 2 position versus Lauren Rivera and Kate Clarkson.

The Ravens salvaged a point in doubles competition at the No. 3 spot. Karis Coad and Barbara Lally topped Melizza Kahn and Bridget Killen, 8-5.

The loss is just the third for Cabrini against a CSAC opponent since the 2004 season. The Cavaliers owned a 49-match win streak versus conference foes through the mid-point of last season.

Cabrini (0-5, 0-1) returns to the court Tuesday, September 15 at CSAC opponent Neumann University. Match time is set for 4 p.m.
