RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini women's tennis team notched its first win of the 2009 season Thursday, cruising to an 8-1 win against Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opponent Keystone College at the Dixon Courts. Sophomores Alexis DiCamillo and Michelle Lettmann ignited the Cavaliers with victories at the No. 1 and 2 positions in singles play.
DiCamillo claimed her third overall singles win of the season and improved her CSAC record to 3-2 with a come-from-behind 2-6, 6-2, 10-6 victory at the lead-off spot against Shiloh Richner. Lettmann rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 triumph at No. 2 versus Tory Girton.
Freshman Gabriela Durand notched her team-best fifth singles victory overall against the Giants, downing Kimberly Berger at No. 3, 6-0, 6-1.
Sophomores Bridget Killen and Melizza Kahn recorded their first career wins in singles competition at the No. 5 and 6 spots. Killen knocked off Heather Godino, 8-2, and Kahn topped Kim Piorkowski, 8-4.
The Cavaliers jumped to a 3-0 advantage with three victories in doubles competition. DiCamillo and Durand coasted to an 8-1 win at the No. 1 position against Girton and Richner.
Lettmann and sophomore Kourtney Spak logged an 8-6 victory at No. 2 versus Berger and Julia Sherry. Kahn and Killen completed the sweep, dropping Godino and Piorkowski, 8-6, in the three hole.
Cabrini (1-8, 1-4) breaks from its CSAC schedule Saturday, September 26 when it travels to Lebanon Valley College for an 11 a.m. first-serve.
