RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini men's tennis team has removed the proverbial monkey from its back, claiming its first win of the season on Thursday afternoon against Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opponent Rosemont College. The Cavaliers swept doubles competition en route to a 5-4 victory versus the Ravens.
Senior Andrew Golden and freshman Shane McKeon set the tone in doubles play, winning 8-2 at the No. 3 position against Will Hayes-Webb and Greg Gardner. Junior Joseph Stafford and sophomore Justin Lutteroty followed shortly thereafter with an 8-2 triumph in the second spot versus Rodney Aguirre and Ryan McElroy.
Sophomores Walter Jesuncosky and Jake Neary completed the sweep with an 8-4 win in the No. 1 position against Patrick McElroy and Ron Vogelei.
Golden topped Hayes-Webb at the No. 5 position in singles play, 6-2 (retired). Stafford rolled to his second singles victory of the season in the No. 6 hole, 6-1, 6-0 against Callie Phillips.
The Ravens won at the first through four positions in singles play. Rosemont remains winless in 2010.
Cabrini (1-9, 1-5) closes out the regular season at home on Saturday, April 24 versus CSAC foe Immaculata University. Match time against the Mighty Macs is set for 11 a.m.
