RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini women's tennis team claimed its second straight win and eighth in nine matches to begin the 2010 season, sweeping Centennial Conference opponent Bryn Mawr College, 9-0, on Tuesday afternoon at the Dixon Courts. The Cavaliers have surrendered just one match in each of their last four victories.
Cabrini set the match's tone early-on, jumping out to a 3-0 advantage following doubles competition. Sophomore Gabriela Durand and freshman Katie Kennedy rolled to an 8-1 victory in the No. 1 position against Julia Jameson and Beth Wiseman.
Junior Alexis DiCamillo and freshman Adriana Scotto notched an 8-6 win at the No. 2 spot versus Eliza Perocchi and Melanie Shafer. Junior Michelle Lettmann and rookie Victoria Nastala earned an 8-4 triumph in the No. 3 hole against Vivian Chen and Elizabeth Olecki.
In singles action, Kennedy rolled at the No. 1 position, knocking off Wiseman, 6-2, 6-1, for her sixth win of the season.
DiCamillo and Lettmann each reached the seven-win plateau in the victory. DiCamillo posted a 6-3, 6-0 win against Shafer in the No. 3 match, while Lettmann downed Olecki, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 4.
Nastala captured her fifth singles win of the season, blanking Fatema Esaa, 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 6 spot.
Durand also totaled her seventh win of the year, besting Perocchi at No. 2, 8-2. Scotto topped Jenny Vogel, 8-4, at the No. 5 spot for her fifth win.
Cabrini (8-1, 3-0) resumes its CSAC regular season schedule versus rival Gwynedd-Mercy College at the Dixon Courts on Thursday, Sept. 25. The Cavaliers will be looking to end a three-match win streak against the Griffins. Match time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
