SCRANTON, Pa. – The Cabrini College women's tennis team suffered its first defeat of the season today at Marywood University. The 5-4 loss drops the Cavaliers record to 11-1 and 7-1 in the CSAC.
Cabrini led the match 2-1 after the doubles competitions. The Cavaliers' number one team of sophomores
Katie Kennedy and
Adriana Scotto continued their dominance with an 8-1 victory. The number three duo of
Victoria Nastala and
Michelle Lettmann improved to 8-0 on the season with their 8-4 win. The team of
Alexis DiCamillo and
Samantha Trumbo lost their first match of the season 8-4.
Unfortunately, Cabrini could muster only two wins in the singles matches. Kennedy and Lettmann maintained their unbeaten seasons with straight set wins, Kennedy at 6-2, 6-1 and Lettmann 6-0, 6-3.
At number two singles, DiCamillo fell 6-2, 6-2. Scotto and Trumbo lost their first matches of the year at numbers four and five singles, respectively. Scotto lost 6-2, 6-3 and Trumbo 6-3, 6-0. Cabrini's number six player, Nastala lost a first set tiebreaker 7-4, then the second set 6-0.
Cabrini will try to get back in eh win column on Thursday, October 13, when they host Philadelphia University at 3:30 p.m.
