ASTON, Pa. – The Cabrini men's tennis team claimed its first win in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play with a 5-4 victory against Neumann University on Wednesday afternoon. The Cavaliers won 2-of-3 doubles matches before sealing the victory in singles action.
Juniors Justin Lutteroty and Ian Monson claimed an 8-4 win in doubles action at the No. 2 position against Joshu McMillion and Ryan Bushbeck. Senior Joe Stafford and junior Nate Martin also posted an 8-4 victory, downing Stephen Moran and Zane Buckley at the No. 3 spot.
In singles play, Stafford set the tone with a convincing 6-2, 6-1 win at the No. 5 match against McMillion.
Lutteroty notched a 6-6 (7-4), 6-1 victory at the No. 3 position against Buckley. Martin recorded a 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 triumph at the No. 4 spot versus Andrew Raimundo.
Neumann (0-4, 0-2 CSAC) earned singles wins at Nos. 1, 2 and 6.
The win avenges the Cavaliers' 9-0 loss versus defending CSAC champion Marywood University.
Cabrini (2-6, 1-1 CSAC) resumes its non-conference schedule versus backyard rival Eastern University at home on Thursday, April 7. Match time against the Eagles is set for 4 p.m.
