RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini College women's tennis team fell to 5-6 after today's 9-0 home loss to Gwynedd-Mercy. The Cavaliers are now 5-3 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference with just two conference matches left to play.
The Cavaliers fell behind early as the Griffins captured all three points in doubles play. Junior
Katie Kennedy and sophomore
Samantha Trumbo lost their number one flight match 8-5. At number two doubles, junior
Victoria Nastala and freshman Kaityln Zinkewich suffered an 8-0 defeat. Freshman duo
Mia Scocozzo and
Mackenzie Murray fell to 4-1 in CSAC doubles match with their 8-3 loss.
Cabrini couldn't change its fate as the teams went into the singles matches. At number one singles, Kennedy lost her set of the season 6-1 before rallying to take the second set 6-3. The junior ultimately suffered her first loss of the season, losing the third set 10-8.
Trumbo and Murray dropped their number two and four matches by matching 6-0, 6-0 scores. At number three singles, Nastala fell 6-1, 6-1. Scocozzo and Zinkewich also lost their super-set matches 8-4 and 8-0, respectively.
The Cavaliers will look to rebound from today's loss tomorrow as they travel to Allentown, Pa. to face Cedar Crest College. First serve in the CSAC match is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
