CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – The Cabrini women's tennis team brought its 2013 regular season to a close with today's 9-0 victory at Baptist Bible College. The Cavaliers will head to tis weekend's Colonial States Athletic Conference with an overall mark of 9-5, including 8-2 in the conference.
The Blue and White got off to a great start, dominating the three double matches. Senior
Katie Kennedy and sophomore
Nicole Broccolino won their 12th match of the season at number one doubles 8-3. In the number two slot, junior
Samantha Trumbo and freshman
Elena Conway improved to 6-1 with today's 8-2 win. Senior
Victoria Nastala and sophomore
Mia Scocozzo took the number three doubles match 8-0, improving to 3-2.
Cabrini's solid play continue into the singles matches where it won all six matches in straight sets. Kennedy won her 45th career match, 6-0, 6-1 in the number one slot. Broccolino earned a 6-0, 6-0 win at number two, while Trumbo triumphed 6-1, 6-4 at number three.
Conway won her fifth consecutive match at number four singles, claiming a 6-0, 6-1 win. Sophomore
Mackenzie Murray improved to 12-3 on the season with her 8-0 pro-set win at number five singles, while Nastala claimed the 6-1, 6-1 win at number six singles.
By virtue of their conference record, the Cavaliers have qualified for a berth in the league's postseason tournament. The Blue and White will play in the semifinal round on Friday at time and against an opponent yet to be announced. The tournament will take place at the Legacy Youth Tennis and Education Center in Philadelphia on Friday and Saturday.
