READING, Pa. – The Cabrini men's tennis team scored its first win of 2013 today, as it defeated Albright College in Reading. The victory improves the Blue and White to 1-6 on the year. It also marks the first win for the Cavaliers' first year head coach Larney Baylis.
The Cavaliers got off to a great start, capturing two of the three doubles matches. Seniors Ian Monson and Abui Santos took the No. 1 doubles match 8-6. The duo of senior Nate Krieger and freshman Colin Kilroy teamed for an 8-3 victory in the No. 3 doubles flight.
Cabrini's solid play continued into the singles matches, where the Blue and White's four wins clinched the win. Monson won his first match of the year, a straight set 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles. Sophomore Anthony DiCicco improved to 3-0 in the Spring with today's 7-5, 6-0 No. 2 singles victory.
Abui also tallied his first win of the season, stepping up to the No. 3 singles flight and postng a solid 6-2, 6-0 win. Freshman Danton Moyer also scored his first career victory, a 7-5, 6-2 straight set win at No. 6 singles.
Cabrini will return to action on Monday, when it welcomes Lebanon Valley College to the Cabrini Courts, in a match that was postponed on March 18. First serve is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
