RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini men's tennis team completed its match against Eastern University today, falling 6-3. The match was originally scheduled for March 26, but was suspended due to rain with just two sets remaining. The loss drops the Blue and white to 1-10 on the year.
The Cavaliers got off to a great start, capturing all three doubles matches. Cabrini's No. 1 pair, seniors Ian Monson and Abui Santos battled to a 9-7 victory. Senior Ryan Juhring and sophomore Anthony DiCicco paired for an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles. At No. 3 doubles, senior Nate Krieger teamed with junior Joe Halbherr to an 8-3 win.
Cabrini could not carry their momentum into the singles matches, dropping the Nos. 2, 4,5 and 6 singles matches in straight sets. Monson and Juhring, playing at Nos. 1 and 3 respectively, won their first sets before losing their seconds when the rains came.
Both matches were suspended, tied at one set each and Eastern holding an overall 4-3 lead. Neither could regain his form from the opening set, as both dropped their third sets today, Monson 6-0 and Juhring 6-3.
The Cavaliers will return to CSAC action on Friday when they travel to Rosemont College. First serve is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. in Rosemont, Pa.
