Women's Tennis Stumbles at Rutgers-Camden

Box Score

CAMDEN, N.J. – The Cabrini women's tennis team fell to 0-2 on the young season after today's 6-2 nonconference loss at Rutgers University Camden.

The Cavaliers fell behind early, taking just one of the three doubles matches. Senior Katie Kennedy teamed with sophomore Nicole Broccolino for an 8-4 win at number one doubles. Junior Samantha Trumbo and sophomore Mia Scocozzo fell 8-4 at number two doubles, while senior Victoria Nastala and freshman Elena Conway dropped their number three doubles match 8-2.

Cabrini hoped it could change the momentum as the match moved into single play, but it was not to be. The Blue and White secured just one of the five singles matches completed before darkness.

Trumbo captured Cabrini's lone singles match with a 7-5, 2-6, 10-5 win at number three singles. Broccolino, Conway, sophomore Mackenzie Murray and Nastala suffered straight set losses. Darkenss fell before Kennedy could finish her number one singles match.

The Cavaliers will return to the Dixon Courts on Friday for their home opener against Rosemont College (1-1). First serve is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
