Women's Tennis Falls to Marywood 5-1 in CSAC Semifinal

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Cabrini women's tennis team's 2014 season came to a close today, as the Blue and White fell to Marywood 5-1 in the semifinal round of the Colonial States Athletic Conference tournament.

Today's loss also closes the career of senior Samantha Trumbo. The senior finished her career with 36 singles victories along with 32 doubles victories. Over the course of four years, Trumbo has led the team to three CSAC postseason tournaments, including the 2011 CSAC championship match.

The Blue and White found themselves in a 2-1 hole after today's doubles matches. Trumbo joined sophomore Elena Conway to earn an 8-4 number two doubles victory to capture the Cavaliers only win on the day.

Cabrini looked to mount a comeback in singles play but fell short losing the first three completed matches to end the match. Trumbo suffered a 6-3, 6-1 loss in number two singles. Junior Tori Yeich fell in number three singles 6-3, 6-2, and freshman Maggie Javitt dropped her number six sinlges match 6-2, 6-0.

Marywood will take on the Gwynedd Mercy Griffins in tomorrow's CSAC championship match. The Griffins advanced with a 5-0 win over Immaculata. Saturday's match is a rematch of the 2013 championship match, one which the Griffins won 5-1.
