OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Cabrini men's basketball team withstood a second half rally to top No. 12 Worcester Polytechnic Institute 68-61 today on the final day of the Hoopsville National Invitational Classic at Stevenson University.

The Cavaliers' third consecutive victory improved the club to 3-1, while handing the Engineers their first loss of the young season.

Senior Aaron Walton-Moss paced the Blue and White with 17 points, 17 rebounds and six assists in the win.  Fellow senior Vinny Walls added 15 points, while freshman Jair Green recorded his second consecutive double double with 11 points and 11 boards.

Junior Ace Henry hit three from beyond the three point arc for nine points, while rookie Robbie Brosh posted six points, including three big free throws down the stretch to seal the win.

Junior Sean Mayo paired five points and seven rebounds as freshman Ivan Robinson added five points and four steals of Cabrini's nine steals.

Trailing by four points early in the game, Cabrini turned to its defense to key a 21-6 run, as Walls' three pointer gave the Cavaliers a 24-12 lead with 8:12 left in the first half.  A Henry triple extended the lead to 13 points with just under four minutes until the break.

WPI fought back cutting their deficit to just four points with 1:55 left in the half.  The Blue and White extended the cushion back to 10 points before a WPI three pointer at the halftime buzzer cut the lead to 39-32.

Cabrini connected on nearly 46% shooting in the first half, including five three pointers, while holding WPI to just 12 made field goals.

A breakaway dunk by Green pushed the lead back to double digits early in the second half before the Engineers began their comeback.

Trailing 50-39, WPI used a 16-5 spurt to even the score at 55 with 9:26 on the clock.  The clubs went scoreless over the next three minutes, until a steal and lay-up by Walls broke the deadlock.

Walton-Moss and Walls combined for Cabrini's next seven point to give the Blue and White a 64-56 cushion with 3:29 to play.

Despite surrendering its lead, the Blue and White defensive effort was evident in the second half, as the Engineers shot just 31% from the floor, connecting on just one of its nine three point attempts.

With this weekend's two wins, the Cavaliers are now 4-0 in two appearances at the Hoopsville National Invitational Classic.  Cabrini also defeated St. Mary (Md.) and Salisbury in last year's event.

The road gets no easier for the Blue and White as it will travel to Scranton, Pa. on Tuesday, as it meets No. 21 University of Scranton (3-1).  Game time is slated for 7:30 p.m.
