SCRANTON, Pa. – For the second time this season, the Cabrini men's soccer team suffered a tough 1-0 loss at Marywood. While the Cavaliers would play again after the first loss, today's 1-0 defeat came in the semifinal round of the Colonial States Athletic Conference Tournament and ended the Blue and White's 2014 season.
The loss ended the Cavaliers season with a 13-7 overall record, while sending the Pacers to Saturday's CSAC championship. Second seed Marywood (10-4-3, 7-2 CSAC) will visit top seed Neumann (10-8-1, 9-0 CSAC).
Tonight's action marked the final match for the Cavaliers' five seniors,
Rey Jimenez,
George Lambritsios,
Christian Martin,
Sean Neary and
Shaun Ostrowski.
As a class, this group has won 44 matches, including leading the Cavaliers to 2012 Colonial States Athletic Conference championship and subsequent NCAA Tournament appearance. They have combined to score 80 points on 29 goals and 22 assists in their 304 games.
The Pacers scored today's lone goal in the third minute, as sophomore Matthew Hull tallied his second goal of the season.
While both teams attempted 13 shots on the night, the Blue and White earned four corner kicks to Marywood's two.
