HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Cabrini men's basketball team improved to 2-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference with today's 91-72 win at Centenary College.
The Cavaliers used a balanced attack to earn their fifth victory against three losses on the season. Senior
Vinny Walls' 23 points led five Cavaliers in double figures. Fellow senior
Aaron Walton-Moss fell one assist shy of a triple double, tallying 17 points, 15 rebounds and nine assists.
Freshman
Tyheim Monroe hit 8-12 from the floor for a career high 18 points, while senior
Howard Blake III matched his career best with 16 points. Freshman
Jair Green added 10 points in the victory.
Fellow rookie
Robbie Brosh added career highs of six assists and five rebounds.
Both clubs exchanged the lead in the game's early minutes, but a traditional three point by Walton-Moss just over seven minutes into the game put Cabrini ahead for good.
Walls' steal and lay-up in the final minute extended the Blue and White lead to 10 points, before a Centenary three pointer cut Cabrini's lead to 43-36 at the break.
The Cabrini offense continued its offensive efficiency after the break, shooting just south of 55% from the floor. Blake tallied 12 of his points in the second half, while Walton-Moss paired 12 points, 11 rebounds and five helpers in the second frame.
Josh Case led three Cyclones in double figures with 15 points and seven rebounds. Andy Charles added 12 points, while Myles McLeod paired 12 points and six boards for Centenary (3-4, 2-1 CSAC).
The Blue and White will travel south on Dec. 16, as Cabrini faces Randolph-Macon College (5-2, 2-0 ODAC). Tip is slated for 7 p.m. in Ashland, Va.
