RADNOR, Pa. - The Cabrini women's tennis team improved to 4-1, 2-0 in conference play following a 7-2 win over Marywood University today at the Radnor Racquet Club. The win marked the Cavaliers' first over the Pacers in the regular season since 2010.
The Cavaliers were able to take two of the three matches in doubles play. Senior
Samantha Trumbo and sophomore
Elena Conway moved to 3-2 as a doubles duo after their 8-2 victory. After splitting the first two doubles matches, freshman
Maggie Javitt and junior
Nicole Broccolino were able to put the pressure on the Pacers with a clutch 8-4 win in number three doubles.
The success for the Blue and White carried over to the singles matches, as it continued its dominance, taking five of six in singles play. Trumbo won her number two singles match 6-2, 6-4. Junior
Tori Yeich was also victorious in her number three singles match. After dropping the first set 2-6, Yeich was able to take the second and third sets 6-3, 6-4.
Broccolino also went three sets today, narrowly dropping the second set before rallying for a 10-8 third set win at number four singles. Conway improved to 4-1 on the season with the 6-4, 6-4 victory at number five singles. Javitt matched Conway's four wins with a 6-2, 6-3 straight set victory at number six singles.
Cabrini will step outside CSAC play on Monday as they look to host Alvernia University (2-0). First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Dixon Courts.
