Box ScorePHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Cabrini women's tennis team's 2015 season came to a close today, as the Blue and White fell to Gwynedd Mercy 5-0 in the semifinal round of the Colonial States Athletic Conference tournament. The defeat closes the Cavaliers' season with a record of 9-8, including 8-2 in CSAC play.
Today's loss closes the careers of seniors Terra McHenry, Nicole Broccolino, Tori Yeich and Amy Held. Over the course of four years, the seniors have earned three post season appearances and have combined for 68 singles and 72 doubles victories.
The top seeded Griffins won all three doubles matches to take a commanding 3-0 lead.
McHenry and junior Elena Conway fell 8-2 in number one doubles. Broccolino and sophomore Maggie Javitt dropped their number two doubles match 8-1, while Yeich and sophomore Stefanie Barkofski fell 8-3 in number three doubles.
The Cavaliers comeback efforts in singles play fell short, as the Griffins scored wins in their numbers two and four singles matches to end the match.
The winner of today's semifinal match between No. 2 seed Immaculata and third seeded Marywood will face Gwynedd Mercy tomorrow for a chance at the 2015 CSAC Championship crown. The Championship match is set for a 4:30 p.m. start.
