IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Cabrini men's basketball team saw its losing skid move to four games tonight, as the Cavaliers dropped their Colonial States Athletic Conference opener 84-64 at Immaculata University.
With the loss, the Blue and White falls to 2-5 on the season.
Junior
Ryan Charity led Cabrini with a career high 17 points in just 16 minutes of action. The junior connected on all five of his field goal attempts, including a pair of three pointers, and 5-6 from the free throw line.
Sophomore
Tyheim Monroe paired 14 points and 11 rebounds for his sixth double-double in as many games. Classmate
Jair Green added nine points, five rebounds and four assists, while fellow sophomore
Deryl Bagwell scored eight points.
The Blue and White fell behind early, as the Mighty Macs scored the game's first five points. Immaculata extended its lead to 13-7 just five minutes into the action. Cabrini responded with a 16-4 run to take a 8:45 left in the half.
Immaculata used a 12-2 spurt of its own to regain a cushion it would not relinquish. Meanwhile, the Cavaliers lost their shooting touch, converting just two field goals in the final seven minutes of the first half, as the Mighty Macs carried a 40-33 lead into the half.
The Mighty Macs put the game away early in the second half, as they opened the second stanza on a 25-10 run to build a 65-43 lead with 12 minutes to play.
Charity's three point play pulled Cabrini to within 74-61 with four minutes to play, but Immaculata scored the next seven points to end the comeback attempt.
The Blue and White shot just .354 from the floor, including 3-19 from three point range, both among the team's lowest percentages of the season.
Rodney Duncan led Immaculata (1-3, 1-1 CSAC) with 24 points on 7-10 shooting, including 4-6 from beyond the arc, while Matt Simon added 16 points off the bench.
The Cavaliers will look to return to the win column on Saturday, as they welcome Marywood University (3-3, 0-1 CSAC) to Nerney Field House. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m.
