GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Cabrini women's lacrosse season came to an end today, as the Cavalier suffered a 12-7 loss to FDU-College at Florham in the opening round of the 2015 NCAA Tournament. 

The Blue and White closes the season with an overall record of 14-6, marking the program's first back to back 14 win seasons since 2001-02.

The defeat also ends the illustrious careers of Cabrini's 10 seniors, Tori Canelli, Taylor Carroll, Sarah Carzo, Megan Decker Lacie Doubet, Karlie Gruccio, Sarah Means, Kristina Quintiliani, Melissa Scanzano and Bree Thompson.

As a group, these ladies have led the Cavaliers to 49 victories, including a 32-1 mark in Colonial States Athletic Conference play and four CSAC championships and subsequent NCAA Tournament appearances.  The class combined to record 914 points, including 672 goals, and secured 1,009 ground balls during its four year run.

It was the seniors who lead the Cabrini offense today, notching eight of the club's 10 points on the day.  Scanzano led the way with four points on a goal and three assists, closing her career with 253 points, just the fourth Cavalier to reach 250 career points.  

Doubet added a pair of goals, ending her career with 233 goals, most in program history, while her 307 points are second on the all-time list.  The senior's 74 goals this season also mark a single season record, while her 88 points are tied for third.

Sophomore Jess Breuning added two goals, while Means and Carzo tallied one each.

Scanzano and Thompson caused a season high five turnovers each, while Scanzano scooped five ground balls, one more than Breuning.  

Sophomore Megan Barlow recorded five saves in the loss.

The Blue and White ran to an early lead, notching the game's first three goals.  Breuning opened the scoring with a free position goal at 26:25, before Doubet's unassisted tally less than a minute later.  Scanzano and Means hooked up at the 23:13 mark to give the Cavaliers a 3-0 lead.

The Devils evened the score with three unanswered goals of their own, before Scanzano found Carzo to break the deadlock.  Cabrini maintained the 4-3 advantage until Florham netted a pair of goals in a 61 second span to take a 4-3 lead into halftime.

FDU's scoring streak continued into the second half, as it netted three consecutive goals to open the second stanza.     

Scanzano ended the streak with her 44th goal of the season.  Just minutes later, Scanzano found Doubet to cut the Blue and White deficit to 8-6 with 14:20.  An FDU goal pushed its lead back to three goals, before Breuning's second tally of the game pulled Cabrini within two with 8:22 to play.  

The Blue and White created chances in the final minutes, but FDU's pressure defense forced untimely Cabrini miscues.  The Devils took advantage of the Cavaliers' late turnovers and extended defense to seal the game with late goals.

FDU sophomore Joelle Manganella tallied four goals and an assist, while sophomore Brienna Reasoner and seniors Dana Amorosi and Courtney Rendinar added two goals each.  Senior goaltender Grace Warburton recorded 10 saves in the win.

With the win, Florham (17-3) advances to Sunday's second round game, where it will meet host, No. 5 Gettysburg (15-3).
