View Box Score

PHILADELPHIA –
The Cabrini women's tennis team saw its 2016 season come to an end today, as the Cavaliers suffered a 5-0 loss to Gwynedd Mercy in the semifinal round of the 2016 Colonial States Athletic Conference Tournament.

The Blue and White ends the campaign with an even overall record of 8-8 after going 7-3 in the conference.

Today's loss also closes the careers of seniors Elena Conway and Katie Muska.  The duo led Cabrini to four consecutive CAC Tournament appearances and a 32-8 record in conference matches.

Conway ranks among the program's leaders with 41 singles and 40 doubles wins while earning All-CSAC honors in singles and doubles in all four years.

Muska played just three years, but found her rhythm this season, accumulating five singles and seven doubles victories.

The Cavaliers struggled to find their momentum in this morning's doubles matches, as the Griffins claimed all three points by matching 8-0 scores.

With just five points needed to advance, the Blue and White faced a tough task.  Gwynedd Mercy continued to control the day's action, as the numbers one and two singles matches were the first to finish securing the win for the Griffins.

Top seeded Gwynedd Mercy (13-0) will advance to tomorrow's CSAC championship match, where it will face the winner of today's second semifinal between number two seed Marywood (12-2) and third seed Immaculata (12-5).

The championship match is slated for Saturday evening at 6:30 at the Legacy Tennis Center in Philadelphia.
