IMMACULATA, PA – The Cabrini women's tennis team could not continue its momentum from yesterday's Senior Day victory, as the Cavaliers suffered a rain-shortened 5-0 loss at Immaculata University.
The loss dropped the Blue and White to 6-6 overall and 5-3 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. With two conference matches remaining, the Cavaliers are tied for the final postseason tournament spot.
The Blue and White fell behind early, as Immaculata controlled all three doubles matches. Senior
Elena Conway and junior
Stefanie Barkofski dropped their number one flight match 8-1, while senior
Katie Muska and sophomore
Lexi Douglass suffered an 8-0 loss in the number two match.
The freshman duo of
Sydney Lynch and
Lucy Travers also lost the number three flight 8-1.
The Mighty Macs continued to run the courts as the focus turned to singles play. Immaculata won both the numbers two and four singles matches in straight sets and were leading the in three others when the rain forced the match to end.
The Cavaliers will return to action on Wednesday, when they host Alvernia University (1-0) in nonconference action. First serve is slated for 3:30pm at the Dixon Tennis Courts.
