RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini women's soccer team saw its streak of five consecutive conference championships come to an end tonight at Edith Robb Dixon Field, as it suffered a 3-0 loss to Centenary University in the semifinal round of the Colonial States Athletic Conference Tournament.
The loss ends the Cavaliers' season with an overall record of 10-7-1.
Tonight's loss also ends the careers of the Blue and White's four seniors,
Jess Breuning,
Meghan Horn,
Marissa Jenkins and
Allie Vallen.
One of the most successful classes in program history, Cabrini won 45 games during their careers, including a 35-3-5 mark in conference games and three consecutive CSAC titles.
The Cavaliers could not find their offense in tonight's defensive battle, as both teams combined for just 11 shots. The clubs totaled four shots in the opening 45 minutes, but the score sheet remained clean after the first stanza.
The Cyclones broke through the Blue and White defense in the 71st minute on a header by sophomore Kara LaPolice. Eleven minutes later, Centenary added a second goal.
Cabrini continued to press for a goal, but an 87th minute header bounced off the cross bar. Less than a minute later, Centenary sealed the win with a goal off a direct kick.
Horn and Vallen recorded shots in their final game sin the Blue and White, while junior
Taylor Tralie and freshman
Lindsey Armanini added shots.
Senior Jessie Sharr scored a goal on a match high four shots, while junior goaltender Kaitlin Marold earned her sixth shutout of the season.
Centenary (11-8) will face top seeded Marywood () in Saturday's championship match. Marywood topped number five seed Gwynedd Mercy 1-0 in today's other semifinal.
