The men's and women's tennis teams made the journey to Reading, Pa. today to face Albright College in a pair of nonconference dual matches. The women's team scored a 6-3 win, while the Cavalier men fell 8-1.
With the win, the Cabrini women improve to 10-9 on the year, while the men fall to 2-12.
The Lions scored an 8-3 win in number one doubles but the Cavalier women answered back with wins in number two and three doubles.
Junior Elena Conway and sophomore Stefanie Barkofski earned an 8-3 number two doubles victory, while sophomores Maggie Javitt and Kimberly Pepenella scored an 8-1 win at number three doubles.
The Blue and White went 4-2 in singles play to capture the victory. Conway earned a 6-2, 6-1 win at the number one flight, while senior Terra McHenry followed with a 6-1, 6-4 win in number three singles.
In number five singles, Javitt scored a 6-0, 6-2 win. Pepenella won her number six singles match by default.
On the men's side, the Lions won all three doubles matches and went 5-1 in singles play.
Junior Sean Jaeger scored a 6-1, 6-3 number two singles victory, before the Lions went on to win the next four singles matches, icing the Cavaliers.
The Cabrini men's tennis team hosts Neumann (3-5, 3-3 CSAC) in its regular season finale tomorrow at Dixon Courts at 3:30 p.m.
The women's tennis team will conclude its spring season on Monday, April 25, as the Blue and White welcomes Cairn (5-10, 4-6 CSAC) to Dixon Courts at a time to be determined.
