Softball Falls to Lebanon Valley College

ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Cabrini softball team made the journey to Annville, Pa. today to take on Lebanon Valley College in a doubleheader. The two teams managed to get game one in, as the Blue and White fell 9-6, before game two was canceled due to lightning. The loss drops the Cavaliers to 21-15 on the year.

The Blue and White scored the game's first five runs in the first two innings. 

In the first inning, sophomore Jess Giordano doubled to right center and was thrown out trying to make her way to third base, but the damage was already done, as senior Kaitlyn Cooper and sophomore Christine Ferraro scored on the the Giordano's hit. 

Freshman Marissa Alpaugh crossed home plate in the second inning on sophomore Sarah Beckner's infield single, while junior Amber Dietrich followed with a two run homer to right center field, her third on the year. 

The Dutchmen scored a pair of runs in the bottom half of the second and added another run in the third, cutting the Cavaliers' lead to 5-3. 

The Blue and White scored once more in the fourth, as junior Lindsay Savar's single to right field plated Cooper. 

The Dutchmen took the lead in the bottom half of the fourth, after scoring five runs on four hits and one error.

Lebanon Valley College added its final run in the sixth, while holding the Blue and White scoreless the rest of the way to secure the win. 

Junior Kiley Sharp pitched 3.1 innings, surrendered five earned runs and walked three batters, while freshman Jenna Rodriguez tossed 2.2 innings without allowing an earned run. 

Five Cavaliers tallied at least a pair of hits in the loss, while Ferraro led the way with a 3-4 performance from the plate. Giordano led the Blue and White with a pair of RBI. 

Cabrini concludes its regular season on Saturday at Keystone (14-20, 9-9 CSAC). The two teams will meet at 12 p.m.
