Baltimore, MD - Women's soccer pushed their streak to five games this afternoon after taking down the Gators of Notre Dame of MD University by a 2-0 final.
With the win, the Blue and White improve to 6-1-3 overall and move to 4-0-2 in the CSAC.
Cabrini played excellent on both ends of the field as they recorded 35 shots and 23 on goal, while holding their opposition to just three shots and two on goal. The 23 shots on goal is a new season high for the Cavaliers as they eclipsed their previous mark of 19, which they recorded just over a week ago against Cedar Crest.
As mentioned, the defense was once again stout for the Cavs as they held their opponent to less than seven shots for the eighth time in 10 games.
Cabrini put the pressure on from the start as the offense recorded four shots in the first 11 minutes, highlighted by sophomore
Payton Greene's first goal of the season. Classmate
Diana VanSickle was good for the assist, her first of the season as well.
Just 12 minutes later, freshman
Rachel Wood picked up her first goal of the season, and college career, as she headed a beautiful cross from classmate
Brittany Purdy to give the Cavs an added cushion.
Cabrini would continue to threaten as they attempted shot after shot, 28 in total, for the remainder of the match, but Notre Dame sophomore keeper Loren Pardoe kept her team close, recording 20 saves in total.
The Blue and White will get a short three day break until they host Keystone College on Saturday, Oct. 10 in the team's annual Breast Cancer Awareness game. Game time is slated for noon.
