IMMACULATA, PA – The Cabrini men's tennis team emerged victorious in a battle of CSAC unbeaten this afternoon, as the Cavaliers scored a 5-0 rain-shortened victory at Immaculata University.
With the win, the Blue and White evened its record at 4-4 overall and remained undefeated in league play at 3-0, while the Mighty Macs fell to 2-1 in the conference and 2-2 overall.
Cabrini jumped to a sizable lead, scoring wins in all three of the doubles matches.Senior
Sean Jaeger teamed with junior
Alijah Broadnax to earn an 8-4 win at number one singles, while freshmen
Charles LaMantia and
Matthew DeMaria scored a tight 9-7 victory in the number two match.
The Blue and White completed the doubles sweep with an 8-4 win by sophomore
Nick Scaramuzza and freshman
Nick Tilley.
Only two of the six singles matches were finished before the rain set it, with the Cavaliers taking both.
Broadnax snapped a personal five match losing streak, earning a convincing 6-0, 6-1 win at number one singles, while LaMantia won his third straight with a 6-0, 6-0 number three singles win.
The Mighty Macs led the other four matches that went unfinished.
Cabrini will return to the Dixon Tennis Courts on Saturday, as it hosts Keystone College (0-3, 0-1 CSAC). First serve is scheduled for 12 noon.
