PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Cabrini men's tennis team made its reservation for Saturday's Colonial States Athletic Conference championship match with today's 5-0 victory over Clarks Summit University.
The win marked the Blue and White's fifth in a row and improved the Cavaliers to 10-5 overall.
Tomorrow's action will mark Cabrini's 11th appearance in the CSAC title match and its first appearance since the 2007 season.
The Cavaliers jumped ahead early, as it cruised to wins in each of the day's three doubles matches.
Cabrini's number one pair of senior
Sean Jaeger and
Alijah Broadnax scored an 8-2 win, while freshmen
Matthew DeMaria and
Charles LaMantia captured the number two match by the same score.
At number three doubles, sophomore
Nick Scaramuzza and freshman
Nick Tilley gave the Blue and White a commanding 3-0 lead with their 8-4 victory.
Needing to win just two of the match's six singles matches to advance to the championship tilt, the Cavaliers showed no let-down.
LaMantia was the first to complete his singles match, posting a 6-1, 6-0 win in the number three singles match. Moments later, Jaeger secured the team win, as he scored a 6-2, 6-3 victory in his number two singles match.
Cabrini will face Immaculata in Saturday's title match. The Mighty Macs (7-5) posted a hard fought 5-3 win over Neumann in today's second semifinal.
The Blue and White defeated Immaculata 5-0 in a rain shortened match on March 30.
The rematch is scheduled for 5:30pm tomorrow at Legacy Tennis Center in the East Falls section of Philadelphia.
