Radnor, PA - The Cabrini men's tennis team was back in action today as they hosted the visiting Alvernia Crusaders and walked away with a decisive 8-1 victory.Â
The Blue and White nearly swept singles and doubles play, but the Crusaders Michael Brophy forced a third set against
Alijah Broadnax and narrowly escaped with the win (5-7, 6-3, 5-7).Â
Freshmen
Vince Paetow (6-4, 6-3),
Nick Falcone (6-1, 6-0),
Ben Mead (6-0, 6-1), and Chukwuma Duru (6-1, 6-0), including sophomore
Nick Tilley (6-1, 6-2), were key for the Cavs as they all secured victories in No. 2 - 6 singles, respectively.Â
The duo of Broadnax and Paetow notched the early No. 1 doubles victory for Cabrini as they beat Brophy and Jim Souder 8-4. Falcone and Mead handled No. 2 doubles with an 8-1 decision, followed by Duru and Como in No. 3 doubles who matched the score of their teammates with an 8-1 victory.Â
The Cavaliers will have a little over a week off until they travel to Glenside, PA to take on Arcadia. Game time has yet to be announced.Â
