Reading, PA - The Cabrini women's tennis team picked up their first victory of 2017 with a 6-3 decision over Alvernia University this afternoon.
With the win the Cavaliers improve their record to 1-1 on the young season.Â
The Crusaders took both No. 1 and 2 single's matches, but the Cavaliers picked up big wins in 3-6 singles. Freshman
Suzzane Pica recorded her first victory as a Cavalier with a 6-2, 6-0 decision over Alvernia's Alivia Lopez in No. 3 singles.Â
Sophomore
Lattana Sithara (No. 4 singles) and senior Kimberly Papenella (No. 5 singles) earned key victories over their opponents, winning 6-4, 1-6, 10-8 and 6-3, 6-4, respectively.Â
In doubles play, the Crusaders again captured the No. 1 match, but a big win from Pica and Sithara in No. 2 doubles along with a forefit in No. 3 doubles from the hosts gave the Cavs all they needed to secure the 6-3 match victory.Â
The Blue and White will be back in action tomorrow when they travel to Glenside, PA to take on the Arcadia Knights at 3pm.Â
