Women's Soccer Downs Gothic Knights 4-0

Radnor, PA - The Cabrini women's soccer team improved to 2-0-1 on the young season with tonight's 4-0 win over the New Jersey City University Gothic Knights. Senior Brittany Runyen led the way for the Blue and White as she picked up her first two goals of the season.

Fellow senior Marisa Christensen and sophomore Diana VanSickle recorded their first goals of the season tonight, as well. Senior Taylor Tralie picked up two points, tying her for the team high with four, thanks to her assists on Runyen's and Christensen's goals.

The Cavaliers dominated from start to finish as they held the Gothic Knights to just two shots, neither of which were on goal and registered 24 shots of their own. The Cavs 17 shots on goal tied their season high against Bryn Mawr.

Runyen kicked off the scoring for Cabrini 20 minutes into the action as she received a pass from Maddy Wojton and ripped a shot from 20 yards out over the keepers head to hand her team the early 1-0 lead. Just seven minutes later VanSickle scored on a near open net after NJCU's goalie made a diving save on a shot from Rachel Wood. Cabrini would carry the 2-0 lead into the intermission.

The Cavs turned up the heat in the second half and collected their final two goals early, scoring in the 53rd and 59th minute.

NJCU keeper Dominique Jackson collected 13 saves on the night.

The Blue and White will get a short break as they next travel to Arcadia University on Tuesday, Sept. 12 to face the Knights. Game time is slated for 7pm.
