Men's Basketball Cruises to 90-62 win at Clarks Summit

CLARKS SUMMIT, PA – The Cavaliers extended their win streak to seven games today, as they rolled to a 90-62 win at Clarks Summit University.

With today's win, the Blue and White improved to 12-2 overall and 7-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.

Eleven Cavaliers marked the scoring column, with four recording double figures.

Senior Tyheim Monroe led the way with 19 points, but saw his double-double streak come to an end with five boards in 23 minutes of action.

Freshmen Trey Smith and Brice Parks notched career highs in the win. Smith put 17 points on the board, while Parks recorded 14 points in 17 minutes. Fellow rookie DJ Smith added 10 points.

Senior Deryl Bagwell's all-around game was on full display with four points, eight rebounds, nine assists, four blocked shots and four steals.

The Cavaliers scored the game's first seven points and never looked back.  Cabrini led by as many as 21 points in the first half, as Parks' triple gave the Blue and White a 27-6 lead with 8:18 left in the opening stanza.

The Defenders pulled within 14 points in the final minutes of the half, but a fast break lay-up by junior Anthony Linder-Creo gave Cabrini a 43-23 lead at the break.

The Blue and White showed no let-up after the break, as its lead swelled to 57-29 less than five minutes into the half. Over the game's final 15 minutes, Cabrini's lead never fell below 23 points and grew as large as 31 points.

The Cavaliers scored 15 second chance points to just five for Clarks Summit, while they converted 20 Defenders turnovers into 21 points.

John McCloskey led Clarks Summit (1-14, 0-8 CSAC) with 14 points, nine rebounds and six assists, while Steven Martin and Will Smoot scored 11 points each.

The Cavaliers will return to action on Wednesday, as they host defending CSAC champion Neumann University (10-3, 5-2 CSAC) in the University's Cabrini Nation Night. Tip is scheduled for 8pm in Nerney Field House.
