RADNOR, PA - The Cabrini women's soccer team used three second half goals to power to a 3-1 come-from-behind victory over the visiting Marymount University Saints on Senior Day.
Today's game marked the final regular season home match for the six seniors in the Blue and White,
Payton Greene,
Tori Kasper,
MaryKate Keenan,
Brittany McCullough,
Theresa Mignogna, and
Sam Penecale. As a group, these ladies have led Cabrini to 42 victories, including a 28-3-5 record in conference games and two CSAC championships.
Mignogna, a four year member of the team, capped her home career with fireworks tonight as she scored her first career goal in the 83rd minute. Classmate
Tori Kasper, meanwhile, led off the scoring with her second goal of the year.
Following a first half that saw the Cavs out shoot the Saints by a 7-2 margin and hold a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks, Marymount managed a 1-0 lead on the scoreboard. The lead didn't last long coming out of the intermission, however, thanks to Kasper's goal just a minute into the second stanza. The West Milford, NJ native finished on a lose ball following a throw in from sophomore
Brianna Blaire.
Tied a one a piece, Garces recorded her third goal in two games with a tally in the 60th minute, courtesy of a through ball from junior
Katelyn Gilinger.
The 2-1 lead would hold for just over 20 minutes unitl Mignogna entered the match in the 80th minute, and just three minutes later tallied her first career goal to give the Cavs insurance and make it a 3-1 game.
In total, the Blue and White outshot the Saints 19-3, including a 12-1 advantage in the second half, and held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks. Junior
Diana VanSickle led the Cavs with three shots, while sophomore
Ashley Tutzauer notched a pair of saves.
Following today's game the Cavaliers move to 9-4 overall and 3-1 in conference play. They will look to extend their winning streak to three games when they travel to Gwynedd Valley, PA on Saturday, October 20th to take on Gwynedd Mercy. Game time is slated for noon.
