DOVER, DE – The Cavaliers opened Atlantic East Conference play with a thrilling 3-2 victory at Wesley College tonight, as junior
Andre Justin's head was on the business end of a free kick by senior
Matt Ochman in the 90th minute of the match.
The win evened the Cavaliers record at 5-5-1. The Blue and White's three goals marked a season high, as the club won its third consecutive game.
The Wolverines grabbed an early lead, as Chimaobi Ikwuagwu put Wesley on the board just over two minutes into the match.
Cabrini responded in the 11th minute, as junior
Kostas Slikas collected a rebound off his own shot and put away the rebound for his first goal of the campaign.
The Cavaliers extended their lead in the 30th frame, as freshman
Ben Cahill dribbled through the Wesley defense before notching his first career goal.
The Blue and White maintained its one goal cushion until the 77th minute, when Jordan Angel's goal pulled the Wolverines into a 2-2 tie.
As the match looked to be headed for overtime, the Cavaliers took advantage of their final scoring chance. A Wesley foul provided the Blue and White the opportunity it needed.
Ochman's service found Justin, whose header in the box eluded Wesley goaltender Kyle Springsteen.
The Cavaliers were outshot 20-12 on the night, including 14-5 in the second half, but sophomore goaltender
Anthony Zampirri was up to the challenge, recording five of his seven saves after the half.

Derrick Amoako led Cabrini with two shots each, while eight other Cavaliers notched one each.
Ikwuangu led Wesley (8-3, 0-1 Atlantic East) with five shots, while Springsteen tallied three saves.
Cabrini will step out of conference play on Saturday, as it travels south to face Hampden-Sydney College (5-4-1, 3-2 ODAC). The Cavaliers and Tigers will meet at Langley High School in Langley, VA at 6pm.
