Swim Teams Cap 2018 with Impressive Home Victories

The Cabrini swim teams closed their calendar year with a pair of impressive victories today at the Dixon Center Pool. The Blue and White men topped Bethany 164-87, while the women downed the Bison 203-27 and Franciscan 161-89. 

The men were dominant in their performance, winning 11 of the meet's 14 event. Junior Matt Schaeffer, sophomore Cameron Mousley and freshman Mac Granto scored two individual event wins each. 

Schaeffer claimed the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.18) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:07.42). Mousley reached the wall first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.05) and 100-yard buttterfly (57.99), while Granto won the 1,000-yard freestyle ( 11:11.55) and 100-yard freestyle (52.37). 

The Cavaliers also bookended the meet with a pair of relay event wins. The quartet of sophomore Kurt Schuehler, freshman Marc Consiglio, sophomore Luke McDevitt and Schaeffer opened the day with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay (1:45.13). 

Granto, Mousley, Consiglio and Schaeffer them teamed for a victorious effort in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:32.92), the day's final event. 

The women were just as impressive, as six Cavaliers recorded individual event wins. 

The Blue and White got off to a good start as freshman Marisa Linsky, sophomore Tara McCloskey, junior Katherine Buckman and freshman Sarah Gudas combined to win the 200-yard medley relay (1:59.84).  

Buckman, McCloskey and Gudas also collected individual wins. Buckman won the 200-yard backstroke (2:28.93), while McCloskey and Gudas won the 50-yard freestyle (26.83) and 100-yard freestyle (58.16), respectively.  

Junior Lauren Finnegan (1,000-yard freestyle - 11:29.47), sophomore Ciara Thompson (200-yard butterfly - 2:59.26) and freshman Rachel Marek (200-yard individual medley - 2:27.83) also joined the winner's circle. 

Cabrini will return its focus to training before it returns to action on Jan. 12, when it welcomes Widener to the Dixon Center. The action will get underway at 1pm.
