Hilton Head, SC - The Cabrini men's tennis team kicked off their spring season this morning in Hilton Head, South Carolina as they squared off against the York College Spartans, ultimately falling by an 8-1 final.Â
The Blue and White picked up their lone match win in No. 6 singles where freshman
Chukwuma Duru defeated sophomore Tyler Richard in thrilling fashion. After dropping the first set 6-0, Duru came roaring back to score the 6-3 win in set two and finished it off with 12-10 winner in the third set.Â
Senior
Alijah Broadnax fell by a 6-3, 6-1 decision in No. 1 singles, while sophomore
CJ LaMantia fell 6-1, 6-4 in No. 2 singles. Rookies Vice Paetow and
Nick Falcone played their opponents tough, but ultimately dropped No. 3 (6-4, 6-2) and 4 (7-5, 6-3) singles, respectively. Sophomore
Nick Tilley rounded out singles competition in the No. 5 slot and fell by 6-0, 6-0 final to York's Sam Price.Â
Doubles competition was highlighted by Broadnax and LaMantia in No. 1 doubles who nearly upended the Spartans, but eventually were edged 8-5.Â
The Cavaliers will have a day off to enjoy the sunshine before they return to the courts to face Brewton-Parker College on March 1st at 5pm.Â
