Clarks Summit, PA - The Cabrini men's tennis team secured their first Colonial States Athletic Conference victory this afternoon as they edged the Clarks Summit Defenders by a 9-0 final.Â
The sweep was a welcomed sight as it ended the Cavs' four game skid and secured a strong start to the CSAC slate.Â
The freshman duo of
Nick Falcone and Vice Paetow put the Blue and white up early as they took an 8-2 victory over their Defender counterparts in No. 1 doubles. Meanwhile, the sophomore pair of Matt DeMaria and
CJ LaMantia secured a No. 2 doubles victory via an 8-3 final.Â
Sophomore
Nick Tilley and freshman Chuckwuma Duru rounded out doubles play with an 8-3 decision in the No. 3 slot.Â
Paetow, earning the start in the No. 1 singles, battled through three sets to top the Defenders' Jason Muller, 7-5, 1-6, 6-3. Lamantia and Falcone curised through No 2 and No. 3 singles to give Cabrini the comfortable 6-0 lead.Â
DeMaria, Tilley and Duru secured victories in No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively, to round out play and give the Blue and White the 9-0 decision.Â
Cabrini will next take the court on Tuesday, March 27th when they host Marywood University. Match time is slated for 3:30pm.Â
