Allentown, PA - The Cabrini women's tennis team was narrowly edged by Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) foe Cedar Crest College by a 5-4 final.
The senior tandem of
Stefanie Barkofski and
Maggie Javitt gave the Cavaliers an early lead as they topped their Falcon counterparts by an 8-3 final in No. 1 doubles.
Sophomore's
Lattana Sithara and
Sydney Lynch forced a tiebreaker in No. 2 doubles, but were ultimately topped by the Falcons' Beth Kistler and Alyssa Epsaro, 9-8 (7-4).
Trailing 2-1 heading into singles competition, Barkofski took a 6-2, 6-1 decision in No. 1 singles to even the score at two apiece. Cedar Crest would go on to win No. 4, No. 3 and No. 5 singles to seal the team victory.
Javitt (6-2, 7-10, 7-5) and freshman
Julia LaMarra (6-2, 6-1) would go on to earn the victories in No. 2 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
With the loss, the Cavaliers move to 2-5 overall and 1-2 in conference play. They will look to get back on track on Monday, March 26th when they head to Aston, PA to take on Neumann University. Game time is slated for 4pm.
