Diamond Cavs Drop Double Header to Penn College

Radnor, PA - The Cabrini baseball team dropped both games of today's double header at the hands of Penn College to move their record to 10-9 overall.

Game One: Cabrini 9, Penn College 11
The Blue and White couldn't hold onto a late lead as the Penn College Wildcats mounted a furious comeback to steal game one away from the Cavs.

Freshman Ray Lutick earned the start and logged 3.2 innings, surrendering five earned on nine hits, while striking out one. Junior Tyler Ronayne (2IP, 2H, 2ER, 1K) was ultimately saddled with the loss as he came in to relieve freshman Shane Souchuck (1.1IP, 3H, 4R, 3ER, 1K), but surrendered a three run homer to give the Wildcats an 11-8 lead at the time.

Junior's Tyler Norris and John Lindeborn paced the Cavalier offense in game one as each tallied three hits and two runs, while adding two and one RBI's, respectively. Sophomore Vince Gares added two RBI's in a 2-3 effort.

After Cabrini jumped out to a 6-1 lead after three innings, the Wildcats mounted their comeback as they struck for four runs in the fourth to cut the Cavalier lead to just 6-5. The Cavs responded in their half of the inning as Norris stole second giving sophomore Joe Aurite a chance to score on the throw. Lindeborn put the Blue and White up 8-5 with an RBI single through the left side to drive in Norris.

The Wildcats would cap their comeback in the sixth thanks to a six run inning to give them an 11-8 lead. A lone run in the bottom of the seventh, courtesy of a Dylan Butler double, would prove to be too little, too late for the Blue and White.

Game Two: Cabrini 3, Penn College 17
The Cavalier offense was held in check in game two as Penn College starter Trevor Dolin tossed six strong innings, allowing just four hits and two earned, while striking out four for the victory.

Freshman Chris Huyette toed the rubber for the Cavaliers in game two and tossed four innings, allowing five hits and five earned, but was ultimately saddled with the loss.

Senior Brett Kuchera and freshman Mack McKisson tallied two hits each to lead the Cabrini offense, highlighted by Kuchera's RBI double.

In total, McKisson reached base six on the day, slapping two doubles and working out three walks. The rookie touts a team best .489 BA, .593 OBP, and a .745 SLG% across 18 games.

The Blue and White held a brief 2-0 lead after the first inning thanks to Kuchera's aforementioned RBI double and a throwing error from Penn College's catcher that allowed Kuchera to score following a steal of third base.

It would be all Penn College after that as the Wildcats outscored the Blue and White 17-1 in the following five innings.

As mentioned, Cabrini moves to 10-9 after today's action and will look to get back in the win column when they host Delaware Valley University on Wednesday, April 4th. First pitch is slated for 3pm.
