Philadelphia, PA - The Cabrini men's tennis team will compete in their second straight Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) championship on Sunday afternoon following tonight's 5-0 semifinal victory over the Gwynedd Mercy Griffins.
The Blue and White cruised to a 3-0 lead following doubles competition as senior
Alijah Broadnax and sophomore
CJ LaMantia topped Gwynedd's Brian Irwin and Max Schneider in the No. 1 flight by an 8-3 final.
Freshmen
Nick Falcone and
Vince Paetow took a decisive 8-0 victory in the No. 2 slot, while sophomores
Nick Tilley and
Matthew DeMaria captured an 8-2 victory in the No. 3 flight.
Tilley was the first Cavalier to finish in singles play as he cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 victory over the Griffins' Justin Collins. Broadnax secured the team victory for the Blue and White as he turned in a 6-1, 6-0 match win in flight No. 1.
As mentioned, Cabrini will compete in tomorrow's CSAC Final thanks to their performance today. The Cavs will take on the winner of No. 2 seeded Clarks Summit vs. No. 3 seeded Neumann. Tomorrow's match time is slated for 5:30pm.
