Radnor, PA - The Cabrini women's tennis team dropped a hard fought match to the visiting Clarks Summit University Defenders this afternoon by a 7-2 final.Â
The Defenders pitted the Cavaliers in an early hole as they swept through doubles play to grab the early 3-0 team lead. The Blue and White certainly didn't make it easy on the visitors as they won at least five games in all three doubles matches, highlighted by freshmen
Julia LaMarra and
Miranda Smith who forced a tiebreaker, but ultimately fell 9-8 (8-1).Â
Senior
Maggie Javitt and sophomore
Sydney Lynch secured the Cavaliers two singles victories in the No. 2 and No. 4 slots, respectively, as Javitt claimed the 6-3, 6-1 winner, while Lynch took the 6-3, 3-6, 10-3 final.Â
Lamarra forced tiebreaker herself, but was narrowly edged by her Defender counterpart by way of a 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) final.Â
After today's action the Cavaliers move to 4-8 overall and 3-5 in conference play. They will look to rebound when they travel to Cairn University on Tuesday, April 10th. Match time is slated for 4pm.Â
