Game Recap: Soccer (Women) |

Offense Rolls in 6-1 Win Over Brandywine

Radnor, PA - The Cabrini women's soccer team erupted for a season high six goals this afternoon in a comfortable victory over the visiting PSU Brandywine Lions.

In total, six different Cavs marked the scoring column led by juniors Katelyn Gilinger and Diana VanSickle who each notched their second goals of the season. Freshman Kelly Kane, sophomores Maria Hagan and Rachel Wood, and junior Payton Greene rounded out the scoring for the Blue and White as each tallied their first goals of the season. Through five games, 11 different Cavaliers have accounted for the team's 13 goals scored.

The visiting Lions jumped out to an early 1-0 lead over the Cavs as Brianna Banks capitalized off a rebound following a save from sophomore keeper Ashley Tutzauer in the 13th minute. Banks' early goal gave her a team high seven on the young season.

Cabrini would respond in a big way, however as Gilinger took a long cross from sophomore Brianna Blair just eight minutes later to even things at one a piece. A header from Rachel Wood off a corner from junior Marissa Portelli put the Cavs in front in the 35th minute. Wood's goal would go on to stand as the eventual game winner.

After carrying the 2-1 lead into the intermission, VanSickel jump started the offense out of the break as she corralled a pass from sophomore Alex Garces and broke free past the Brandywine defense for her second goal of the season in the 48th minute.

Hagan and Greene poured it on for the Blue and White as they pushed through goals in the 56th, and 57th minute, respectively to expand the Cavaliers' lead to four. A late goal from Kane capped the scoring and allowed the Blue and White to coast to their third win of the season.

Overall, the Cavs held an impressive 28-4 advantage in shots and a 13-0 advantage in corners.

Cabrini will look to make it two in a row when they travel to Camden, NJ to take on Rutgers-Camden on Wednesday, September 19th. Game time is slated for 4pm.
