Wilkes-Barre, PA - The Cabrini men's tennis team will head into day two of the King's Invitational following a strong showing in yesterday's opening round.Â
Three different Cavs collected victories in singles play, highlighted by junior
Matthew DeMaria's two wins, while two pairs of Cavaliers advanced to the semifinals in doubles competition.Â

Nick Tilley led the way for the Blue and White on Saturday as they both earned a spot in Sunday's final matches, in the sixth and fifth flight, respectively. DeMaria used a thrilling 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (10-7) decision in the quarterfinal to advance to the semifinal where he took down University of Scranton's Daniel Scala by a 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-4) decision.Â
Tilley, meanwhile, took advantage of a first round bye in the fifth flight and cruised to a comfortable 6-4, 6-0 win to advance to today's final.Â
Sophomore
Nick Falcone also collected a victory in the quarterfinal of singles play, using a 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-2) decision to advance to the semifinal where he would be topped by Owen Hegarty of King's.Â
The Cavs found even more success in doubles play as the pairs of DeMaria and Tilley, as well as sophomore
Vince Paetow and junior
CJ LaMantia both advanced to today's semifinal matches. DeMaria and Tilley rolled to an 8-2 decision in No. 3 doubles, while Paetow and LaMantia topped King's College for an 8-6 decision.Â
Day 2
The Cavaliers wrapped up the final day of competition at the King's Invitational with a pair of strong performances, headlined by
Nick Tilley's No. 5 singles final.Â
As mentioned, Tilley advanced to the final's following a first round bye and a comfortable 6-4, 6-0 win in the semifinals on day one. The Junior nearly topped Susquehanna's Ryan Seibert for the No. 5 singles title, but was ultimately edged following a fantastic back-and-fourth match that ended in a 7-5, 6-3 defeat.Â
Matthew DeMaria also advanced to Sunday's final in the No. 6 flight, but the match was eventually retired following a 6-1, 1-1 start.
LaMantia and Paetow, meanwhile used a pair of 8-6 victories in No. 1 doubles play to advance to the final's match where they turned in an impressive performance, but were eventually edged by an 8-3 final.Â
Over the entirety of the two day tournament, Cavalier men's tennis players collected a total of seven victories, four of which came via singles competition.Â
The Blue and White will now turn their attention to Tuesday's matchup at Alvernia University. Match time is slated for 3:30pm.Â
