SCRANTON, PA - The Cavaliers suffered their third consecutive loss tonight, as the Cabrini men's basketball team fell to Marywood University 94-87. The loss dropped the Blue and White to 5-16 overall and 3-5 in the Atlantic East Conference.
Freshman Voshon Mack paced Cabrini with 23 points on 10-14 shooting and 14 rebounds, while senior Anthony Wright-Downing added 22 points and nine boards.
In just 10 minutes of action, fellow senior Anthony Linder-Creo paired 10 points on 5-8 shooting and seven rebounds, as classmate Alsmith Saintilus chipped in with 11 points and five rebounds.
Marywood used an 11-2 spurt midway through the first half to establish a 25-15 lead. Minutes later, the Blue and White responded with a 22-5 run of its own. A Wright-Downing lay-up gave the Cavaliers a 37-30 advantage with 3:22 left in the opening stanza.
Cabrini maintained its lead through the final ticks of the period and carried a 49-46 lead into the halftime break. The Cavaliers built their halftime lead on the strength of .538 shooting and 16 assists on 21 field goals.
The Blue and White could not carry their momentum into the second half, as the Pacers opened the period on a 20-5 run. Marywood's lead swelled to 66-54 at the 13:25 mark.
Despite shooting .485 from the field in the second half, Cabrini could not cut its deficit below seven points. The Pacers stressed the Cavaliers on the other end of the floor, shooting nearly .600 after the break.
Jaden Rhoden paired 21 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four steals to lead five Pacers (14-6, 6-1 Atlantic East) in double figure scoring. Jeremy Ringland added 19 points, six boards, four assists and four blocks in the win.
The Cavaliers have a few days to regroup, as they will not return to action until next Wednesday, when they visit Wesley College (9-11, 3-4 Atlantic East). Tip is slated for 8pm in Dover, DE.
