Box Score 2 WILKES BARRE, PA - The Cabrini men's tennis team earned a split against King's College and Drew University this afternoon.
The Cavs claimed a 6-3 victory against the Monarch's, while narrowly being edged 5-4 against Drew in the night cap.
Against King's, the Cavaliers swept through doubles play as senior
CJ LaMantia and junior
Nick Falcone captured a decisive 8-2 final in the No. 1 flight. Juniors
Vince Paetow and
Ben Mead earned an 8-1 victory in the No. 2 slot, while sophomore
Dalton Roberto and freshman
Mason Bennetch collected the 8-5 win in flight No. 3.
After LaMantia and Paetow were narrowly topped in No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, Falcone picked up the 6-0, 6-1 winner in the No. 3 flight. Mead and Bennetch collected victories in the No. 4 and No. 5 slots to hand the Blue and White the match victory.
Cabrini nearly collected the victory against Drew following their victory over King's, but the Bears did just enough to fend off the Cavaliers. Following an 8-2 victory in No.1 doubles from LaMantia and Falcone, the Cavs fell in flights two and three.
Falcone (6-2, 6-2), Mead (6-3, 6-3), and Bennetch (4-6, 6-3, 10-3) earned wins for Cabrini in No. 3, 4 and 5 singles, but it would prove not enough as Drew would escape with the aforementioned 5-4 match victory.
The men's tennis team caps their Fall slate following today's match with a 2-2 record. They will kick off their Spring season on Saturday, February 15th when they travel to Swarthmore, PA to take on the Garnet.
