Box Score PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Cabrini men's tennis team suffered their first loss of the season this afternoon after falling to the division II Jefferson University Rams by a 6-1 final.
The Rams earned the team point from doubles play as they controlled two of the three matches. Junior
CJ LaMantia and sophomore
Vince Paetow edged their Jefferson counterparts in the No. 2 flight thanks to a 6-4 final.
Despite strong efforts from sophomore's
Nick Falcone and Ben Mean in the No. 1 slot, as well as junior's Matthew DaMaria and
Nick Tilley in the No. 3 flight, the Rams took doubles play thanks to a 7-5 and 6-4 victory, respectively.
DeMaria highlighted singles competition for the Cavs as he picked up the only match victory for the Blue and White. DeMaria took a 6-1, 6-4 decision over Jefferson's Alex Riccio in flight No. 6.
Mead (6-4, 1-6, 10-7) and Falcone (6-2, 6-7, 7-5) both forced tiebreakers in flights No. 5 and No. 4, respectively, but were ultimately topped by the Rams.
Following today's match, the Cavaliers move to 4-1 overall, but will look to get back on track on Tuesday, March 19th when they travel to DeSales University. Match time is slated for 3:30pm.
