IMMACULATA, PA – The Cabrini softball season came to an end today, as the Cavaliers suffered a pair of losses on the first day of the Atlantic East Conference Tournament.
The Blue and White fell to number five seed Wesley 16-1 and fell just short in a 4-3 loss to second seeded Immaculata. The losses ended Cabrini's season with a 20-18 record.
The defeat also closed the career of senior
Darian Caputo. The senior helped the Cavalier win 86 games with her .335 career batting average, 106 hits and 53 RBI.
Game 1: Wesley 16, Cabrini 1
The Cavaliers fell behind in the bottom of the first inning on a Wesley two-run home run. Cabrini responded in the top of the second, as sophomore
Jess Redding singled before scoring on a Caputo triple.
Things fell apart for the Blue and White in the bottom of the third, as Wesley took advantage of three Cabrini errors and three walks. The Wolverines added seven hits, including three home runs, to plate 12 runs in the frame.
Redding and Caputo recorded the Cavaliers' only hits in the opener, while freshman pitcher
Grace Stairiker suffered the loss after allowing seven earned runs in 3.1 innings of work.
Game 2: Immaculata 4, Cabrini 3
With both teams fighting to avoid elimination, the Mighty Macs grabbed a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning with a two out, two run homer. Cabrini got one of the runs back in the bottom of the frame, as a single by freshman

Immaculata responded with its second two run home run in as many innings, pushing its lead to 4-1.
Cabrini looked to rally in the bottom of the sixth. The Cavaliers opened the frame with three consecutive singles, as freshman

Allison Martin. Two outs later, the Blue and White loaded the bases before Caputo's infield single scored sophomore
Carolyn Alcantara, cutting the deficit to 4-3 after six innings.
Cabrini came down to one final shot in the bottom of the seventh. Sophomore
Amber Seamen opened with a double before advancing to third with one out. Unfortunately, the Cavaliers could not push across the plate before recording the final two outs.

Aysiah Cintron tallied three hits each, one more than
Allison Martin. Stairiker surrendered four earned runs on seven hits in the loss.
Immaculata and Wesley will meet on Sunday to determine which will advance to next weekend's championship round.
