ANNVILLE, PA - The Cabrini men's tennis team closed their nonconference schedule this afternoon with a narrow 5-4 loss to the Lebanon Valley College Dutchmen.
The sophomore duo of
Vince Paetow and
Ben Mead got the Cavs off to a fast start in No. 1 doubles as they secured a tight 8-5 victory. Junior's
CJ LaMantia and
Nick Tilley followed suit with a matching 8-5 victory in No. 2 doubles.
Freshman
James Humes and sophomore
Dalton Roberto rounded out the Cavs doubles matches with a hard fought 8-3 loss in the No. 3 slot.
The Dutchman made up ground in singles play as they took No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 singles. LaMantia fell by a 6-1, 6-1 final in the No. 1 slot, while Tilley was edged 6-2, 6-4 in flight No. 2. Paetow forced a tiebreak, but was ultimately edged by a 6-4, 2-6, 5-7 final.
Mead and Humes rounded out the Cavaliers remaining singles victories with a decisive 6-3, 6-3 and 6-1, 6-2 decision respectively.
Following tonight's match, the Cavs move to 5-4 overall. They will aim for their first conference victory on Saturday, April 6th when they host Marywood University at the Dixon Tennis Courts. Match time is slated for noon.
