Box Score SWARTHMORE, PA - The Cabrini men's tennis team opened their Spring slate with a difficult nonconference matchup against regional power Swarthmore College that ended in an 8-1 defeat.
The Cavs fought in doubles competition, claiming three games in the No. 1 and No. 2 flights, but were ultimately swept. Juniors
Ben Mead and
Nick Falcone paired in the No. 1 flight, while classmate
Vince Paetow and senior
Matthew DeMaria slotted in the No. 2 flight. Freshman
Mason Bennetch and junior
Max Schneider rounded out doubles play with an 8-1 loss in the No. 3 slot.
Bennetch highlighted singles competition as the rookie claimed the Cavs' lone match victory in the No. 5 flight. The newcomer used an 8-4 decision over Swarthmore's Max Gruber. Schneider also battled for the Cavs as he claimed three games in the No. 6 slot.
Following today's result, the Cavaliers move to 2-3 on the young season. They will look to get back in the win column on Thursday, Mach 12th when they host Lebanon Valley College at the Dixon Tennis Courts. Match time is slated for 3:30pm.
